The Statutory Corporation of Government of West Bengal by the name- Western Bengal Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) has recently amended and set an extension on the deadline in submitting the applications under different schemes in which Aikyashree is also included.

The Aikyashree scheme and similar initiatives provide a wide range of financial aid to minority students of West Bengal. The first step on winning your west bengal minority scholarship is to understand which scheme you are under.

The following is a list of the key schemes, the level of their targets, and the eligibility criteria of each scheme:

1. Pre-Matric Scholarship (Classes I-X)

• Description: Granted to minority students in studying Class I through X.
• Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicant should be a domicile of West Bengal.
  • Family income needs to be up to 2 Lakh per year.
  • Minimum marks are 50% in the final examination (this mark is waived in case of students applying to Class-I).

2. Post-Matric (Classes XI through Ph.D.) Scholarship.

• Description: The award is given to students who have attained Class XI to Ph.D. degree.
• Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicant should be a domicile of West Bengal.
  • Family Income should not exceed Rs. 2.0 lakh/annually.
  • Minimum marks needed is 50 percent in the final examination.

3. Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship.

• Description: The target group will include minority students enrolled in professional/technical courses of the graduation and post-graduation level of institutes in West Bengal and based on a recognized board/university.
• Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicant should be a domicile of West Bengal.
  • The students should successfully complete at least 50% marks in the previous Higher Secondary/ Graduation Examination.
  • Annual Family Income should not exceed 2.5 Lakh.
  • All students who live in West Bengal, but take the course in institutes beyond West Bengal are not eligible (except particular institutes listed).

4. Talent Support Program (TSP)

• Description: This stipend is distinctive in the sense that it offers the support of minority students whose past final examination results have less than 50 percent marks and whose studies started in Class XI and are pursued until Ph.D. (with the exception of professional and technical courses).
• Eligibility Criteria:
  • Annual Family Income should not exceed 2.0 lakh.
  • Students should have obtained lower than 50 marks in the final test.

5. Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM)

• Description: Offered to deserving minority students pursuing full time courses between Class XI up to the Post-graduation in regular courses, as well as, the specialized programs available such as Diploma (Polytechnic), B.Ed, DLED and Diploma in Pharmacy. The scholarships may be up to Rs. 60,000/-.
• Eligibility Criteria:
  • The applicant should be a domicile of West Bengal and still studying in a reputable institute located within the state.
  • The Annual Family Income should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh (certificate will be required by a Central Government Officer or a State Government Officer).
  • Average marks in the final examination:
  • 60% to Higher Secondary to Graduation.
  • 53 percent in Post-graduation level and Honours subject at Graduation level.
  • 55 percent at Graduation Level when it comes to engineering students.

How to Apply for the Aikyashree Scholarship | WB Minority Scholarship (Step-by-Step Guide)

The procedure of applying to any scheme of West Bengal Minority Scholarship, such as that of Aikyashree, is a typical online process.

Step 1: Internet Enrolment and Applying.

Deserving students: The students have to apply online using the special portal: www.wbmdfcscholarship.in.

Step 2: Selecting Application Type.

• In case you got scholarship benefits last year and have an Application ID, then you have to apply to the renewal category.
• When making the application as a first-time applicant, then you have to submit your application as a FRESH candidate.

Step 3: Account Forming and Account Linkage.

• Make sure to use one registration, one ACTIVE BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER and one mobile number.
• Students with an AADHAAR-linked bank account will have an advantage in obtaining the amount of the scholarship provided directly.
• The Unique ID of Bangali Shikhsha ID is required to school level students.
• Make sure that you have the right details of your bank account (A/c Number, IFSC Code) and that the account is maintained active and in working condition.

Step 4: Institutional Submission.

An applicant who has successfully entered the application online must take a printed copy of the application and make the same available in their respective institution. You should also attach a copy of your bank pass book with the submission.

Important Instructions for All Applicants

In applying to your Aikyashree scholarship you need to remember these important things:

• Domicile Requirement: You have to be a domiciliary of West Bengal.
• Location of the institute: The location of your institute should be within West Bengal. (Note: This is highly insisted on in the case of MCM applicants, but with some listed institutes exceptionally).
• Academic Qualification: In most schemes, the applicants must have at least 50 per cent marks in LAST FINAL Examination. The only exception is that of Talent Support Stipend (TSP), which applies to those who have less than half mark.
• Exclusions: Do not apply to applicants of distance education.
• Non-Duplication: A student can be offered a scholarship by only a single source of the government.
